These terms govern your use of startrise.io (the "Site"), operated by Startrise LLC ("Startrise", "we", "us"). By using the Site, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the Site.

Using the site
The Site exists to present our work and services, publish the Journal, and let you get in touch. You may use it for those purposes. You may not:
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the Site or its infrastructure.
- Scrape or harvest data from the Site for spam, resale, or training commercial datasets without our permission.
- Use the contact form, email, or phone line to send unlawful, deceptive, or abusive content.
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation when contacting us.
Intellectual property
The Site and its content — text, design, graphics, case studies, the Startrise name and logo — belong to Startrise LLC or our licensors and are protected by copyright and trademark law. You may view, link to, and quote the Site with attribution; you may not republish substantial portions, or use our name or logo, without written permission.
Client names, logos, and work shown in our portfolio belong to their respective owners and appear with permission or under the terms of our engagements.
Open source
Software we release publicly (see Open Source) is governed by the license that ships with each project — typically MIT — not by these terms. The license in the repository is what controls your use of that code.
Journal and site content
Articles in the Journal and other content on the Site are provided for general information. They aren't legal, financial, security, or other professional advice, and reading them doesn't create a client relationship with us. Technology moves fast; content that was accurate when published may go stale, and we're not obligated to update it.
Client engagements
Descriptions of services, processes, and timelines on the Site are informational, not a binding offer. Actual engagements — including scope, fees, deliverables, warranties, and ownership of work product — are governed exclusively by the written agreement we sign with each client. If these terms conflict with a signed agreement, the agreement wins.
The AI phone line
Calls to +1 (415) 347-6981 are answered by an AI voice assistant, and calls may be recorded and transcribed as described in our Privacy Policy. The assistant can take messages and answer questions about our services, but nothing it says constitutes a binding commitment, quote, or contract — those only come from a human at Startrise in writing.
Third-party links and services
The Site links to third-party sites and embeds third-party services (for example, our contact form). We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content or practices. Your use of them is governed by their own terms.
Disclaimer of warranties
The Site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Startrise LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill — arising from your use of the Site. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Site is limited to one hundred US dollars ($100). This section doesn't limit liability that can't be limited under applicable law, and it doesn't apply to client engagements, which are governed by their own agreements.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify Startrise LLC against claims, damages, and reasonable legal fees arising from your misuse of the Site or violation of these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute relating to the Site will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Wyoming, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
