Mk. I — now accepting reservations

A precision instrument for the architecture of sleep.

Halcyon shapes the light and sound of a room across the night — not to entertain, but to bring the body down through its own stages, and back. One object. Milled aluminium, brass, mineral glass. Made in Bristol.

The Night

Composed in four movements.

Halcyon does not switch off. It reads the hour and the room — never the wearer — and shapes the space across the night.

21:40

Dusk

Warmth withdrawal.

Light drops from 2,400 K to 1,800 K over twenty minutes; a low shutter of brown noise opens beneath the room. The body reads the cue and lets go.

23:10

Descent

Slow waves.

Frequencies settle toward 0.5–2 Hz pulsed resonance, beneath audibility; light falls below 0.1 lux, where the eye stops reporting and the limbic system begins.

02:30

Deep

Total rest.

The instrument holds near-silence and near-dark — audible only as absence, visible only as the faint brass edge of the aperture. The room is left to the body.

06:50

Wake

A drawn dawn.

Light climbs 1,800 K to 4,500 K over thirty minutes, shaped to the curve of a spring sunrise. Sound thins to birdsong recorded in the Wye Valley, looped without seam.

The Making

Built to outlast the habit of buying.

Each instrument is milled from a single billet of 6061-T6 aluminium, hand-finished and anodised in a warm graphite. The dial is turned brass, knurled by hand at sixty cuts to the inch. The aperture glass is mineral, sand-blasted and edge-lit.

Nothing inside is soldered that could be screwed; nothing is glued that could be machined. We make a hundred and twenty a year, because making more would mean making them worse.

Sleep is the last discipline that asks nothing of your phone. We made an object worthy of that.
